As I said before, I have managed to work, drive, shop, participate in
scuba diving, ride my bike, garden, socialize, and live on my own. The
majority of people with disabilities can if they find the right help. My name
is Jimmy and I've been disabled for about 20 years. I dated for a long
time, then eight years ago I met my wife and we were married 5 years ago.
I guess you can say I was a veteran at the dating game. There aren't too
many online chatting or dating lines that I didn't join. You can meet the
love of your life online, in a chat room, at college, a ball game, the mall,
the beach, a bar, or at church. The point is, if you don't make the effort,
you will never get there. If you don't want to go out to meet people (fear
of rejection does that sometimes, even if you aren't disabled), then try an
online chat room or dating service. I tried a few before I found my wife.
Here's a few tips:
- First and foremost, honesty upfront. Humans instinctively pick up on
people similar to them. If you want an honest relationship, don't lie
online or in public.
- Conversation is very important. You hear people (and on tv) that
couples never talk.
- Quality time: Even after you've been dating a while or even married,
quality time with your spouse is important. Spend a little time alone
or doing something you both enjoy.
- People generally chose people who are similar. Having something in
common makes it easier to get along but make sure you have
enough differences to make life interesting as well.
- Grooming:& Appearance:
- Remember, first impressions are lasting impressions. Dress
up for your date. Casual if fine, but no wrinkled clothes.
Unless you are specifically into retro clothing, make sure your
wardrobe is current and in style for the area in which you live.
Ladies seem to pick up on this very, very quickly. If you need
help in this area, we have provide a few places to shop! From
Big and Tall to the hottest styles, what the occasion calls for,
you should be able to find something to wear on your fist date!
- Make sure you bath, wash your hair, fix your hair, use
deodorant, perfume or cologne, make up if you wear it, clean
and buff your nails, and brush your teeth!
- For the ladies: Although we can appreciate your natural
beauty, wear a little makeup on your first date! This can make
all the difference in the world if you're trying to keep and
maintain a relationship. Fix your hair, even if you normally
don't do anything to it. If you don't have any, we have provide
a few places that supply the latest in makeup and bath
products. And, make sure your eye brows are neatly plucked.
Unfortunately, people judge other people by appearance, and
having your hair fixed and makeup on gives people the
impression you care about yourself and have the capacity to
care about someone else!
- For the men: While most men never wear makeup, groom
those eyebrows and trim your mustache or beard if you have
one. No one wants to taste yesterdays lunch! If your hair is
thinning and you feel self conscience about it, we have
provided a link that may be helpful. And like the ladies, you
must give the impression that you care about yourself, it's a
real good indication that you can care about them.

Some worthwhile Do's and Don'ts of Dating:
- Do smile. Smiling gives your date (and others) the impression that
you are having a good time, that you enjoy their company, and you're
happy to be with them.
- Do make sure who's paying the bill. Sometimes men are 'expected'
to pay the bill but not always. Some ladies will go dutch.
- Do be on time. You don't want to miss your date, but if something
unexpected happens, call. You may be surprised to find out that
your date is willing to meet later or another day.
- Don't make the mistake of talking about your previous relationships,
good or bad. If asked, keep comments short and don't harp on it.
Bringing old baggage to a new relationship most definitely will spoil
the evening and any chance of having a relationship with your date.
- Don't make promises to do something you have no way of keeping
or no intention of keeping. Empty promises spoil any relationship.
- Don't say you like something when you don't. Be yourself. If you're
looking for someone to like you for yourself, then YOU have to be
yourself.
What do you like to wear? Do
you dress in clothing that
you THINK your date will like
or what you really like?
Both men and women dress
in clothes they THINK will
attract the other sex. Women
wear sexy outfits and men
wear the latest fashions. Be
yourself, dress in what you
like and you will feel more
comfortable.
Do both men and women
expect women to wear
makeup and perfume? Most
definitely! Natural make is in
and some say makes you
look younger!.
The perfume of choice:
botanicals.
