Prostate Problems

Millions of men suffer from one of a number of prostate problems and for most
of them, the prostate problems  begin to develop around middle age. Minor
problems arise that require treatment or surgery that can cause urinary
problems, like my father-in-law had. Most cases of prostate problems are not
serious and symptoms are fairly mild. Unfortunately, some men will have
serious prostate problems that will require treatment.

Incidence

In the U.S, the most common cancer is skin cancer with prostate cancer
running a close second. What is prostate cancer? Can prostate cancer be
cured?

Causes

Human life begins when a single cell divides repeatedly to form new cells. This
continual process results in the human body. But this is not the end of the
process. Throughout life, our bodies are in continuous flux, changing
constantly, as cells in our bodies wear out, new cells replace them. Like a
transcription error, sometimes this process makes a mistake, the pattern isn't
followed and it results in caner or a tumor (masses of cells). Some masses are
benign or harmless while others are malignant or dangerous and life
threatening.

The basis of all cancers including prostate cancer is where faulty cell division
takes place in the prostate, then the result is prostate cancer. On occasion
faulty cells in the prostate spread into the bloodstream where they are carried
to other areas of the body. From there they settle and continue the process
destroying cells. An oversimplified explanation, but easier to understand why
you should take care of your body and your health.

Treatment

Research suggests that many men diagnosed with low grade prostate cancer
do not need the radical treatment currently being used. Only 1% of men (aged
55 to 59) with low grade prostate cancer would die from their disease within 15
years, even without treatment. However, men with high grade prostate cancer
would benefit from treatment.

Vitamin K2 helps prevent Prostate Cancer

According to the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer & Nutrition,
the risk of prostate cancer can be reduced by 35% with an increased intake of
vitamin K2, but not K1.
